Poteau Ok 2015 Christmas Window Decorating Contest
Jackson Grocery and Meat Market won first place in the Business Division in Sallisaw's Christmas Parade Saturday. Presenting the first place $125 award is Bryan Warner of Sallisaw, Cherokee Nation Tribal Councilman for District 6, on the left, and Amber Nelson, marketing director at Cherokee Casino Sallisaw, right. The Cherokee Nation provided the money for the parade winners. The Jackson's float won first place in the Business Division.
Friends of the Library at Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library in Sallisaw won first place in the Non-Profit/Churches Division in Sallisaw's Christmas Parade Saturday. The Grand Marshals won second place the Public Service Division in Sallisaw's Christmas Parade Saturday. Trinity United Methodist Church in Muldrow won third place in the Non-Profit/Churches Division in Sallisaw's Christmas Parade. The Sallisaw Police Family Float won third place in the Public Service Division in the Sallisaw Christmas Parade Saturday. The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced the winners of the Christmas Store Front Decorating Contest, in the Christmas Parade and in the Shop Sallisaw Cash Give-Away campaign.
Phyllis Poindexter of Sallisaw had the $1,500 grand-prize winning ticket in the Shop Sallisaw campaign. A total of $6,000 was given away to shoppers with tickets on Saturday. Poindexter obtained her ticket at the Sequoyah County Times.
The winners in the Christmas Store Front Decorating Contest were:
Sallisaw East End: First Place – State Farm Insurance, and Second Place – National Bank of Sallisaw, Express Pointe;
Sallisaw Central: First Place Tie – Sallisaw Police Department and Cherokee Nation Career Services; Second Place – City of Sallisaw; Third Place – Old Sallisaw High School Association; and Honorable Mention – SCA Title;
Sallisaw West End: First Place – National Bank of Sallisaw; and Second Place – KXMX, The Mix 105.1.
The top three places in each decorating division were awarded trophies.
Judy Martens, the chamber's executive director, said, "We would like to thank everyone who entered a float in the parade. We appreciate their hard work and dedication to making the parade a success."
The winners in the Christmas parade received a trophy and $125 for first place, $100 for second place and $75 for third place.
The parade winners are:
Business Division: First Place - Jackson Grocery and Meat Market; Second Place – Cherokee Casino, Sallisaw; and Third Place – National Bank of Sallisaw;
Non-Profit/Churches Division: First Place – Friends of the Library; Second Place – Old Sallisaw High School Association; and Third Place – Trinity United Methodist Church;
Schools and School Activities Division: First Place – Sallisaw Middle School Diamond Dazzlers; and Second Place – Cub Scouts Pack 731;
Public Service Division: First Place – City of Sallisaw Electric Department; Second Place – Grand Marshall's Float; and Third Place - Sallisaw Police Family.
